In March 2008
I was sent by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Australia to
document the work of the MSF team in the Tal refugee camp near Teknaf,
south east of Bangladesh.
The camp houses ethnic Rohingya's who have fled persecution from Myanmar.
Although Myanmar is their homeland they are no longer recognised as citizens
there and have reported systematic human rights abuses from the Myanmar
authorities.
In this video I show the squalid nature of the camp. through a series
of interviews we hear about the main health issues caused by this environment
and how the MSF team is working to alleviate some of the suffering of
these refugees.
