Morrinho means little hill in Portuguese. It is also the name of a project
in the Pereirão favella, a neighbourhood close to downtown Rio
de Janeiro.
The project began in 1997 when a 14-year-old boy would play in the nearby
forest using found objects to create his own world. He and his mates created
games there and over the years built a mini replica of favella life as
they knew it using bricks, lego, toy cars and guns.
Here are some photos I took of the morrinho and some of the local children
playing there.
